•In 2023, the Azerbaijan Standardization Institute published a new approved voluntary industrial standard AZS 934:2023 Diesel fuel EURO. Specifications, that defines 10 mg/kg as the only one level of sulfur content in diesel fuel

•Following the progress made on the upgrade to the Baku Heydar Aliyev refinery, the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has enabled production of Euro 5-compliant gasoline and diesel. Production of Euro-5 compliant diesel fuel started in 2023. The refinery is still implementing a large-scale modernization and reconstruction project to increase the capacity until 2027
