This section describes legal requirements relating to biofuel blending mandates, sustainability criteria, life cycle greenhouse gas emissions and the renewable energy policy applicable to transport in Estonia.
Bio-based gasoline mandates
The Liquid Fuel Act sets an overall renewable energy share (RES) target of at least 7.5% by energy content in the total energy quantity of petrol, diesel, biofuel and electricity used for consumption in transport, as the weighted average calculated for the six-month periods ending on June 30 and December 31. If a fuel supplier has exceeded the obligation in the first six months of the calendar year, they can count the excess in the second half of that calendar year.
