Recent developments
On October 12, 2023, New Zealand’s Ministry of Transport published the Land Transport Rule Vehicle Exhaust Emissions Amendment 2023. This amendment comes into force on December 1, 2023. Under this amendment, the following are applied:
    •Light-duty passenger and goods vehicles must comply with Euro 6d or equivalent from July 1, 2028
    •Medium- and heavy-duty vehicles must comply with Euro VI step C or equivalent from November 1, 2025
    •Light-duty passenger and goods disability vehicles must comply with Euro 6d or equivalent from January 1, 2031
    •Two- and three-wheelers must comply with Euro 4m or equivalent from April 30 to December 31, 2026, and with Euro 5m or equivalent from January 1, 2027
