Motorcycles

From January 1, 2016, all motorcycles requiring registration in Malaysia should comply with the European Directive 97/24/EC Chapter 5 Annex II section 2.2.1.1.5 amended by 2006/72/EC of August 18, 2006, or the World Motorcycle Emission Test Cycle (WMTC) under Directive 2006/72/EC of August 18, 2006.

From January 1, 2020, the government implemented the emission limits under the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Global Technical Regulation 2 (GTR-2) for motorcycles registered on and after January 1, 2020. The tables below show the past and current emission standards for motorcycles in Malaysia.
