Life Cycle GHG Emission Reduction Target
According to Romania’s Emergency Ordinance no. 80/2018 fuel suppliers are obligated to reduce life cycle GHG emissions from road transport by 6% by 2020. It specifies that until December 31, 2020, suppliers have an obligation to reduce GHG emissions generated during the life cycle per unit of fuel energy and the energy supplied by up to 10%, but not less than 6%.
The 7% cap on biofuels produced from cereals and other starch-rich crops, sugar or oil crops and crops grown mainly for agricultural purposes as energy crops should be respected when meeting the GHG emission reduction target. The target can be achieved
•Jointly by the suppliers
•Through biofuels blending
Only sustainable biofuels may be accounted toward this target.
