PADD 4 only accounts for 3-4% of the U.S.’s total gasoline market: that said, its share has been growing, albeit gradually (3.6% in 2019, compared to 3.2% in 2010). In 2019, PADD 4 states consumed a total of 333 thousand barrels per day (Mbpd) of gasoline, compared to 9,309 Mbpd consumed by the country as a whole. All of the gasoline supplied to PADD 4 states are, per the Energy Information Agency’s (EIA) accounting, conventional gasoline. The agency does not provide break outs of state-level (i.e. “boutique”) fuels such as the low-RVP formulations geared for the Denver/Boulder and Salt Lake City metro areas.
