In February 2020, Singapore’s government announced that it aims to phase out internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles by 2040, citing public health and climate change as the main reasons for the target.
To entice buyers, the government plans to take the following measures:
    •Extending the Vehicular Emission Scheme to include light commercial vehicles
    •Implementing an early adoption incentive scheme for electric vehicle (EV) buyers in 2021-2023 that includes a 45% rebate of the car’s additional registration fee (ARF), capped at SGD 20,000 (USD 14,827) per vehicle
    •Revision of road tax for EVs and some hybrid models
    •Expanding the EV charging infrastructure from the current 1,600 points to 28,000 by 2030. Of these, two-thirds will be installed in government housing estates acros
