Imports

In Morocco imported vehicles can be new or used. New vehicles are imported directly from retail networks or manufacturers. Used vehicles can be imported as long as they are five years old maximum, with one exception; Moroccans living abroad have a special permit allowing them to bring in vehicles older than five years.

Half  of the total number of imported vehicles in 2019 were older  than five years, while the  other half  had an age of 0 – 5 years.

The vehicle market is heavy dieselized, as shown in the table below. Sales of hybrid and/or electric vehicles continued to grow in 2019 but remain marginal.
