Quality specifications

Most fuel and vehicle emission regulations in member countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) are regulated by the GCC Standardization Organization (GSO). Adoption of each national GSO standard is recommended for each national standardization body member in the GSO. However, member countries are also allowed to set more stringent regulations than those of the GSO.

In Saudi Arabia, gasoline standards are set by the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO), and gasoline sold in the country must comply with them.
