Recent developments

In 2024, the biofuel mandate for road transport was increased to 19% v/v, compared with 17% v/v in 2023. The advanced biofuel blending obligations for off-road machinery (10.0% v/v) and inland shipping (6.0% v/v) were also introduced in 2024. The E10 gasoline grade (conventional gasoline containing up to 10% v/v of ethanol) was introduced to the market in April 2023, replacing the E5 gasoline grade (a conventional grade containing up to 5% v/v of ethanol).
