Recent developments
In August 2020, the Environmental Protection Agency implemented a subsidy measure for the replacement of large diesel vehicles, the elimination of phase one, two and three diesel vehicles in Taiwan. This subsidy will remain in place until December 31, 2022.
In August 2021, the government implemented the latest national diesel specification, CNS 1471:2021, which reduced the maximum polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon content from 11% m/m to 8% m/m. Moreover, this specification moved some properties to the recommended specification in Appendix C.
In November 2021, the Executive Yuan reduced the excise tax on petroleum products by TWD 1 (USD 0.04)/liter from December 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022.
