Ethanol blends
Section 110 of the Energy Act of 2006, indicates that the Minister for Energy has the power to allow the blending of ethanol in gasoline.
The implemented “gasohol” specifications conforming to Kenyan Standard KS 03–515:1990 or any revisions thereon.
The Energy (blending of power alcohol with motor gasoline) regulations 2010 indicates that there are three depots where gasohol (gasoline with 10% v/v of ethanol) blending shall be undertaken:
•KPC Kisumu Depot
•KPC Eldoret Depot
•KPC Nakuru Depot
The operator is the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC).
According to SGS INSPIRE, Kenya does not currently blend ethanol in gasoline.
