Under the 2021 Tax Reform, which was enforced from April 1, 2021, the government extends tax rebates for low-emission cars including electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, fuel cell electric vehicles and natural gas vehicles.

Conventional hybrid vehicles with fuel efficiency ratings below 60% of the 2030 fuel efficiency target are excluded from the tax rebates. However, such vehicles with fuel efficiency ratings exceeding the targets by 20% or more will be exempted from tonnage tax from the first and second years.
