The Renewable Transport Fuel Obligations (Amendment) 2021 imposes on transport fuel suppliers who supply relevant hydrocarbon oil in the United Kingdom an obligation to produce evidence that a certain amount of renewable transport fuel has been supplied in the United Kingdom (the “Renewable Transport Fuel obligation” (RTFO)).
The transport suppliers must use a mass balance system and provide information on the sustainability characteristics of relevant feedstock or fuel including its type, place of origin and any other matter relevant to its compliance with the sustainability criteria, to the Administrator (Secretary of State).
