Africa: local feedstocks feeding into biofuels projects

Several private companies have projects to outsource feedstocks from African countries to produce biofuels.

In March 2025, the Japanese company, Nippon Biodiesel Fuel Ltd (NBF), announced that its local subsidiary, Agro-Negócio para o Desenvolvimento de Moçambique, Limitada (ADM) in Mozambique, will produce alternative fuels from jatropha. Since 2012, the company has been carrying out projects to research and develop raw materials plants for biofuels.
