Recent development

In 2018, the government introduced ultra-low sulfur diesel with a maximum sulfur limit of 50 mg/kg in major cities amid high pollution from heavy-duty diesel vehicles, such as trucks and buses. Furthermore, it originally planned to switch to Euro 4-enabling diesel quality by March 20, 2019. However, a complete nationwide switch to Euro 4- or Euro 5-enabling diesel quality will largely depend on the decision of the Ministry of Oil which controls most state refineries.
