Taxes
In December 2017, the Argentine Congress passed Tax Reform , which modified the tax structure of fuels, and imposed a carbon tax on fossil fuels for the first time.
As of March 2018, there were two taxes: on liquid fuels and CO2, compared to four previously. Biodiesel is exempted from these taxes, with the objective of discouraging the use of fossil fuels and encouraging renewable energies. from May 12, 2006, established a favorable tax framework for biofuels, which was continued by Law 27640. Biofuels are exempted from the tax on liquid fuels, and from the tax on CO2, both of which are applied to fossil fuels according to Law 23.966 from August 1, 1991. This tax treatment only applies if the feedstocks used are of national origin.
