Light-duty vehicles
In September 2005, Bangladesh’s Department of Environment DOE published the country’s first national vehicle exhaust emission standards, regulating the maximum emission limits for light-duty vehicles (LDVs). Separate standards were implemented for diesel vehicles and gasoline/compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles, both aligned with the Euro 2 LDVs emission standards.
On July 26, 2022, DOE published the second national vehicle exhaust emission standards under . Under these rules, the government introduced the latest emission standards for in-use vehicles, including spark ignition and compression ignition engines. This section covers exhaust emission standards for LDVs registered in Bangladesh.
