Quality monitoring
In Nepal, the importation, distribution, and sale of petroleum products are exclusively managed by the state-owned petroleum company, Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC). To ensure fuel quality, NOC has established a Quality and Pollution Control Department responsible for monitoring and inspecting imported and domestically sold fuel. These inspections are conducted in a central laboratory and follow the fuel standards of the importing country.
Although NOC does not publicly disclose inspection results or detailed fuel quality standards, industry sources suggest that the corporation adheres to India’s Bharat Stage VI (BS VI) fuel standards.
