CO2 emissions standards for heavy-duty vehicles - Final

Regulation (EU) 2024/1610, amending Regulation (EU) 2019/1242 as regards strengthening the CO2 emission performance standards for new heavy-duty vehicles (HDVs) and integrating reporting obligations, amending Regulation (EU) 2018/858 and repealing Regulation (EU) 2018/956, was published on June 6, 2024 and became effective from July 1, 2024.

The new regulation applies to a wide range of these vehicles, focusing on those newly registered in the Union and categorized as M2, M3 (passenger transport), and N1, N2, and N3 (cargo transport). Some HDVs are exempt from the regulation, including those used for civil protection, fire services, armed forces, or urgent medical care.

Starting in 2025, manufacturers will be required to reduce emissio
