2025 updates

On April 6, 2025, the UK’s Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, announced that the phase out of new gasoline and diesel car sales with only internal combustion engines (ICE) will start from 2030, with plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) allowed to be sold until 2035. The sale of new vans powered by gasoline and diesel with ICE technology, and new vans with hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) and PHEVs technologies will be allowed until 2035.

The new plan follows after an extensive consultation from December 24, 2024, to February 18, 2025, and engagement with stakeholders and the public.
