Peru: Green Hydrogen Promotion Law published

Law No. 31992 on the Promotion of Green Hydrogen was published in the official gazette of the Republic of Peru on March 23, 2024. This law aims to promote research, development, production, transformation, storage, conditioning, transportation, distribution, marketing, export and use of green hydrogen as fuel, as well as an energy vector, in its different applications.

Law No. 31992 defines green hydrogen as an energy vector produced with low greenhouse gas (GHG) emission technologies. In this sense, Law No. 31992 does not establish maximum emissions limits to classify hydrogen as green and/or low emissions, as India does, for example.
