Kazakhstan: KazMunayGas plans to start SAF production in partnership with LanzaJet

On June 20, 2024, KazMunayGas (KMG), [this spelling differs from the 'KazMunaiGas' used in the title..? Are they the same, or is one a subsidiary?] LanzaJet and Mitsui met to discuss the possibility of starting a production facility for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in Kazakhstan.

This meeting followed a pre-feasibility study of a project to construct a SAF production complex in Kazakhstan. This was successfully conducted by the joint initiative of KMG and Air Astana, with the financial assistance of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The next stage is to develop the feasibility study itself.

KMG, the national oil and gas company of the Republic of Kazakhstan, announced that its three major refin
