EU: technical report proposes methodologies to monitor CO2-neutral fuels in road transport

Recently, the Working Group on Monitoring Methodologies (WGMM) has released a detailed report on the role of CO2-neutral fuels in road transport. This initiative responds to the European Commission's (EC) call for innovative solutions to track and verify CO2-neutral fuels, ensuring their inclusion in vehicle registrations after 2035. The WGMM’s mission is to create reliable methodologies for monitoring CO2-neutral fuels across their life cycle – from production to consumption. Comprising diverse stakeholders, including original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), fuel producers, retailers and policymakers, the group emphasizes the importance of neutrality, compliance with EU laws and science-driven approaches.
