India's government continues to introduce alternative fuels to reduce the country’s dependence on imported crude petroleum. One of these alternative fuels, hydrogen, will also help to reduce carbon emissions from the transport sector.
On March 4, 2025, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways and the Minister of New and Renewable Energy launched India’s first trial of hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks.
