The United Nations International Maritime Organization (IMO) concluded the 83rd session of the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) meeting on April 11, 2025. Among the agreed and approved amendments is the new requirement on greenhouse gas (GHG) fuel intensity (GFI), which includes a new fuel standard and a global GHG pricing and reward mechanism.
To ensure the maritime industry meets the GHG emissions reduction targets on time, the MEPC 83 approved the IMO Net-Zero Framework measures, which include a new fuel standard and a global GHG pricing and reward mechanism.
