EU: Renewable Energy Directive (RED III) national transposition progress

On October 31, 2023, the EU published the Directive (EU) 2023/2413 on the promotion of energy from renewable sources (RED III). This directive took effect on November 20, 2023. EU member states (MS) had 18 months from the enforcement date to transpose this new directive into their national legislation. It means that the deadline of translating the directive into national law was May 21, 2025. These national legislations set mandates and targets to be met by the relevant fuel suppliers in their fuel portfolios.
