Argentina: new urban buses in Buenos Aires City must operate on electric or CNG powertrains from 2027

The Transportation Secretariat of the Government of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (CABA), through Resolution No. 111/SECT/25 published on July 15, 2025, in the Official Gazette of the City of Buenos Aires, established that, starting January 1, 2027, new vehicles registered with the Single Registry of Motor Passenger Transport (RUTAP) for collective passenger transport services must be powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) or electric engines.

Approved conventional diesel-powered units may remain in service until they reach their maximum age.

The resolution indicates that, within the framework of the 2050 Climate Action Plan (PAC), the CABA government is committed to adopting new technologi
