Recent developments
From January 1, 2024, Thailand’s Department of Energy Business (DOEB) implemented a maximum sulfur limit of 10 mg/kg for all diesel grades.
However, the DOEB explained that diesel with a maximum sulfur limit of 50 mg/kg will continue to be sold for about three to four months until the stock finished. Thus, the full switch to diesel with a maximum sulfur limit of 10 mg/kg is expected to be completed by April 30, 2024.
With regards to biodiesel content, DOEB decided only B7 (diesel containing 6.6-7% v/v of biodiesel) is sold until the end of April 2024. From May 1, 2024, B10 (diesel containing 9-10% v/v of biodiesel) will be back as the main diesel grade with B7 and B20 (diesel containing 19-20% v/v of biodiesel) available on the market.
