Conventional gasoline
Data from Australia Petroleum Statistics showed that diesel is predominant in the country. Total gasoline (including ethanol blends) consumption in 2021 was 15.5 billion liters and is estimated at 15.81 billion liters in 2022.
Domestic gasoline production typically accounts for about 65% of total demand. However, in 2021, domestic refineries produced 7.36 billion liters of refined petroleum products, or about 47.4% of demand. From January to October 2022, Australia’s refineries produced about 26% of refined products, or about 26% of total domestic demand due to the closure of bp’s Kwinana refinery.
