In Central America, regulations on fuel quality are set at both regional and national levels.

The Belize Bureau of Standards (BBS) is a government department under the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise. The BBS is recognized under the Standards Act as the National Standards Body. This institution sets the fuel quality specifications in Belize.
