Quality monitoring
Since 2016, the Department of Energy has been contracting SGS to carry out yearly sampling and testing to control diesel and gasoline quality. Each year, 1,080 samples are taken from 540 gas stations in the nine provinces of South Africa. For diesel, the following properties are analyzed: flash point, cold filter plugging point (CFPP), total contamination, distillation and sulfur. For gasoline, the analyzed properties are research octane number (RON), motor octane number (MON), distillation and sulfur.
The results of this monitoring program are not publicly available.
