Hydrocarbons

Diesel specifications in Southern Africa do not set any limit on hydrocarbon components in diesel. There is a limit of 8% mass on polyaromatic hydrocarbons for the Clean Fuel 2 future requirement in South Africa.

The polyaromatics content of diesel 500 ppm and diesel 50 ppm samples is shown in the figure below. 500 ppm sulfur diesel has on average a higher polyaromatics content than 50 ppm sulfur diesel.
