Heavy-duty vehicles

Heavy-duty vehicles are defined as vehicles in categories M1, M2, N1 and N2, all with a reference mass of greater than 3,500 kg, and those in categories M3 and N3.

Similar to light-duty diesel vehicles, since January 1, 2018, heavy-duty vehicles have been subject to Level 4 (equivalent to Euro IV) emission standards.

From January 1, 2022, newly manufactured, assembled and imported heavy-duty vehicles must meet Level 5 (equivalent to Euro V) emission standards. The following tables show the Level 5 emission limits for heavy-duty vehicles for the European Stationary Cycle (ESC), the European Load Response (ELR) and the European Transient Cycle (ETC) tests.
