Alternative Diesel
Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda are the only East African countries with biodiesel standards in place.
Kenya published standard , which specifies requirements and test methods for marketed and delivered fatty acid methyl esters (FAME)/biodiesel to be used either as automotive fuel for diesel engines at 100% concentration, or as an extender for automotive fuel for diesel engines.
Tanzanian standard Automotive biodiesel fuel, which specifies B100 requirements when used as automotive diesel in diesel engines, has been in place since 2012.
Finally, standard Automotive biodiesel fuel, was published in Uganda in 2011.
