Cetane
Cetane index indicates fuel performance. A high cetane index will tend to increase the fuel ignition efficiency, and more complete combustion occurs. Furthermore, high cetane fuel emits less carbon monoxide (CO), unburnt hydrocarbons (HC) and particular matter (PM) into the environment. Thus, a higher cetane index is preferred by engine manufacturers.
All diesel samples taken in 2016-2021 under the SGS Worldwide Fuel Survey (WWFS) had a cetane number above the minimum limit of 51. The lowest result found was a cetane number of 54.
