Chemical and Physical Description
Under the term paraffinic diesel, we include the following fuels:
    •Hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO)
    •Fuels produced through the Fischer-Tropsch process, commonly known as the biomass-to-liquid (BtL), coal-to-liquid (CtL) and gas-to-liquid (GtL) pathways
    •Co-processed diesel produced by the simultaneous transformation of biogenic and petroleum feedstocks
Power-to-liquids (PtL) diesel is another type of paraffinic fuel produced from electricity, water and carbon monoxide or carbon dioxide. However, due to the different type of feedstock, production processes and earlier stage of development, it is covered in another section called “Synthetic Diesel”.
