The Energy and Water Services Regulatory Unit (URSEA) regulates the quality of fuels sold in Uruguay. URSEA usually implements specifications suggested by the state-owned oil, refining and import company, the National Administration of Fuels, Alcohol and Portland (ANCAP).

This section explains the specifications for gasoline quality in Uruguay.
Conventional gasoline
Uruguay’s current gasoline specifications are defined in the Energy and Water Services Regulatory Unit (URSEA) Regulation of Technical Specifications for the Quality of Liquid Fuels (RETCCL).
The last time these gasoline quality specifications were modified was on April 16, 2021, when, through URSEA Resolution No. 071/021, published in the Official Journal, changes were introduced to the Reid vap
