Aniline and Derivatives
N-Methylaniline is a principal component of NMA (also called monomethyl aniline MMA), a non-traditional antiknock agent used to increase the octane number of gasoline. It is usually added to gasoline in a concentration of around 1.3% v/v to avoid high gum levels which can cause increased carbon deposits in engine parts.
SGS WWFS sampling results of gasoline did not find important NMA content between 2016 and 2020 that could negatively affect engine performance.
