Biodiesel

In the United Arab Emirates (UAE) biodiesel or fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) is produced from used cooking oil and primarily sold in bulk to industry, including transport and logistics companies.

On November 29, 2018, the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology issued FAME specification UAE.S 5023:2018, which was enforced in January 2019. Unlike FAME specifications from other countries, the UAE specification does not set a minimum limit for ester content. Instead, the supplier should report it.
