Regulations
The quality of fuels and the applicable vehicle emissions in member countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) are regulated by the GCC Standardization Organization (GSO). Each national standardization body member in the GSO is obliged to adopt each GSO standard as a national standard. However, member countries are allowed to set and implement more stringent regulations than those of the GSO. Additionally, depending on the refineries’ configuration, industry specifications will either be in line with, or more stringent than, those of the GSO.
Qatar’s natural resources belong to the state. The Ministry of Energy Affairs exercises regulatory administration of the energy sector, covering both oil and gas production, operations and distribution.
