Regulatory aspects

In the U.S., hydrogen as a fuel is governed by both federal and state laws. At the federal level, laws like the Energy Policy Act 2005 and the Energy Independence and Security Act 2007 aim to promote hydrogen and fuel cell technology. States also have individual policies; for example, California’s Clean Transportation Program supports hydrogen fuel cell electric cars by expanding hydrogen refueling stations. These laws and programs collectively aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, enhance energy security, and promote the commercialization and adoption of hydrogen technology.
