Lifecycle greenhouse gas emission reduction target
The Law on the reduction of life cycle greenhouse gas emissions from certain fuels sets an obligation for fuel supplers to reduce the average life-cycle greenhouse gas emissions per unit of energy used in transport, by at least 6% compared to a baseline of 94.1 CO2 equivalent in g/MJ.
The sectors applicable to this target are road and non-road machinery.
Measures counted towards the target
The following measures may be counted towards the target:
•Fuel suppliers may meet it jointly
•Renewable energy including electricity
•Aviation biofuels
Penalty
The penalty fee is EUR 1 per kg of emissions not saved.
