Exports and imports
In Thailand, only domestically produced fuel ethanol can be blended with gasoline to meet the ethanol mandate. In other words, imports are not allowed.
Moreover, fuel ethanol is categorized as a controlled product. The import/export of fuel ethanol is controlled by the Ministry of Energy which can grant special permits to traders. However, the ministry has yet to grant any such permits.
However, imports and exports of other grades of ethanol, including industrial, pharmaceutical and potable ethanol are allowed.
