Recent developments
In December 2022, Thailand’s government announced that the minimum biodiesel (fatty acid methyl ester) content in all diesel grades would be kept at 6.6% v/v from January 1 to March 31, 2023. From April 1, 2023, the minimum limits will revert to their original limits, i.e., 9% v/v for ordinary diesel, 6.6% v/v for B7 (diesel containing 7% v/v biodiesel), and 19% v/v for B20 (diesel containing 20% v/v biodiesel) (see news article dated ). However, at the end of March 2023, the government decided to continue with B7 until September 30, 2023 (see news article dated ).
The government has also been considering reducing subsidies for B7 and B20 to promote B10 uptake and slowly phase out the other two grades.
