Regulations
In the Commonwealth of the Independent States (CIS) region, Armenia, Russia, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine have the tightest quality requirements for gasoline. This is due to the completion of refinery upgrades in Russia and Belarus, increasing imports from Europe, the association’s agreements with the EU (Moldova and Ukraine), or the governments’ aim to reduce air pollution from road transport (as demonstrated in Georgia). Most Western Balkans countries have made a great effort to harmonize their legislative structure with the EU’s.
This section provides an overview of the legislative requirements for octane boosters in the CIS, the Western Balkans countries, and Turkey.
