Oxygen content
The percentage of oxygen in gasoline in Bolivia averaged 1.3% m/m in the study period, below the maximum regulatory limit of 2.7% m/m set for premium, regular and base gasoline between 2011 and 2022. According to the SGS Worldwide Fuel Survey (WWFS), 36 samples exceeded this maximum value between 2020 and 2022, since ethanol began to be used as a blending component in Bolivia´s gasoline (Special Gasoline+ and Super Ethanol 92 Gasoline). Ethanol blend specifications do not set maximum regulatory limits for oxygen content. A value of 5.5% m/m was found in a Super Ethanol 92 gasoline sample in La Paz in May 2020 (13.6% v/v ethanol content).
