Ethanol
In Egypt, the national gasoline standard has a regulatory limit for oxygen content of 2.7% m/m in gasoline. This oxygen content limit follows the European gasoline standard (EN228) limit of maximum ethanol content of 5% v/v and maximum methanol content of 3% v/v in gasoline.
According to the SGS Worldwide Fuel Survey (WWFS), average ethanol and oxygen content were below the regulatory limits. The figures below show the ethanol and oxygen content in gasoline samples in Egypt from 2010 to 2021. Note that for RON 90 gasoline samples, data was available for the years 2010 and 2011 only.
