Imports and exports

France is self sufficient in bio-based gasoline (ethanol, bio-naphtha and ethers) production and imports are very limited although from 2020 onwards, this trend has changed. Imports of bio-ethanol have increased from 2020 to satisfy growing demand, which resulted in a decrease in bio-ethanol exports. The production of bio-ethanol has stayed between 770,000 tonnes and 1 million tonnes from 2012 to 2022.
