Heavy-duty vehicles

In September 2004, the first Bangladesh’s national emission standards were implemented by Department of Environment (DOE). Under the standards, the government introduced the Euro 2-equivalent vehicle emision standard for diesel powered heavy-duty vehicle (HDV). However, no vehicle emission standard was established for spark-ignition engine HDV.

In July 2021, the DOE published the Air Pollution Control Rules 2022 incorporated the vehicle emission standards into these rules. However, the government has not updated the vehicle emission standard since its initial implementation.

The table below shows the current vehicle emission standard for HDVs powered by diesel.
